This past weekend LEGO unveiled the 10233 Horizon Express at the 2012 LEGO Fan Weekend in Denmark. The train is modeled after the TGV, a famous European high speed train (which I once rode from Brussels to Paris).
This is a nice looking train and somewhat of a surprise. There were some rumors of a new Christmas train this year. This set is labeled “Expert Builder” and if you look through the Brickset Gallery, you can spot some pretty nice building techniques. At $129 USD (available in January although I’d be surprised if it isn’t out before Christmas), the price isn’t too bad for the large part count (1300+). About the only thing I am not a fan of are the brick built doors (which were also present in the 10194 Emerald Night) and the continued use of click hinges (bleh). The older finger style hinges are so much more elegant (and functional) than the click hinges. Two of these sets placed back to back will make a very nice passenger train!
