Monster Truck Knight Bus

Another blast from the past was unearthed tonight.  This “Monster Truck Knight Bus” was in the same red bucket as the aforementioned Maresk Blue modular building.  It uses the same tires that I used on a couple other Monster Trucks which came from the 5561 Big Foot 4×4.

This “conversion” was initially done as a joke after I had turned the Flying Car from the Escape From Privet Drive into a Monster Truck.  Both would get pretty good reactions from both kids and parents when they saw them on the NCLTC layout.

Lots of Maersk Blue

One of my modular buildings was primarily Maersk Blue.  It was an early victim of disassembly.  The way I had built the awning didn’t lend itself well to being a good neighbor to other buildings.  I had used SNOT to face  the awning with 2×4 Maersk Blue plates which was fine on the front but the studs on the sides of the awning would bump into whatever was next to it.  I tried a couple of times to fix it but it never looked right so I took it apart one day and it has been sitting in a red bucket ever since.  Tonight it got properly sorted and put away.  Ever seen a big pile of Maersk Blue?  ;-)

Down goes the Brown Building!

Another of my modular buildings was disassembled this afternoon.  This is another building that has been around for a while. The upper part of the building is interesting but nothing special other than it features some unusual parts in rare colors.

The first floor of the building has some 12 pane windows based on the 2×2 window.  As I took it apart I realized how much time I had spent building those windows.  To get the yellow band effect around each group of 6 windows required a lot of SNOT (studs not on top) building.  It took a lot of trial and error to get them to work correctly.  Before I take the windows apart I think I will capture them in ML-CAD.

More Disassembly – taking apart modular buildings

It is a rainy Saturday morning so I continue to take things apart and put their elements away.  First victim this morning is a building I built back in 2003 – it has been featured on many NCLTC layouts over the years.  It had a bunch of orange elements in back when orange was fairly rare.  Most of the orange in this building came from the LEGOLand California Model Shop.  It is taking me about two hours to disassemble, sort, and put away these buildings.  Ugh – I have a bunch more to do!

2012 NC State Fair Entries

Here are some pictures of the entries from the 2013 NC State Fair that Joe Meno and I judged.  You’ll see a picture of the Battleship North Carolina that we had to disqualify because it is a Brickmania kit.
